Police became aware of the shooting around 12:35 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, after receiving numerous 911 calls of a shooting in progress in the area of 9 Weber Drive, said Port Chester Police Chief Richard Conway.
Responding officers found a 26- year-old Port Chester resident, later identified as Charles Anthony Elliott Jr., lying in the street suffering from a gunshot to the head, Conway said.
Port Chester and Rye EMS transported Elliott to Greenwich hospital where he was pronounced dead.
At the same time, officers at Greenwich Hospital determined that a second victim, a 26-year-old Rye Brook resident, was also being treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds believed to be sustained in the same incident, the chief said.
Numerous police units from Port Chester, with the assistance of officers of the Westchester County Police, and the City of Rye Police secured the crime scene.
The investigation is in its preliminary stages.
The Port Chester Police Department is investigating the case with the assistance of the Westchester County Police crime scene and forensic units.
